Our practice has been amalgam free for more than 20 years.
1. Caries treatment without drilling
In the early stages of caries we apply the so called ‘infiltration method’: a liquid is inserted into the damaged parts of the tooth (infiltrated) where it bonds to the enamel. Finally, the tooth surface is restored and caries are removed without the need to drill. This method was developed at the University of Kiel, Germany, in 2008.
2. Filling materials
We use only high quality filling materials which we test for their individual biocompatibility, when required.
The biocompatibility of dental composites (synthetic resins) is, in particular, highly dependent on the dentist’s accurate processing and application of the material. We, a practice for environmental dentistry, strictly follow the respective guidelines.
We use:
3. Root fillings
If there is no other way to preserve a tooth, we apply a root filling.
After a careful inspection, we treat the tooth in several stages, always using cofferdam protection and inlays which contain calcium. This proven method is very gentle, highly biocompatible and avoids interference field issues almost completely.
Dr. Christian Patrosio, an expert in microscopic endodontia, complements our team in extraordinarily problematic cases.
Around 6 months after commencement of the therapy and based on the results of a follow-up examination with regard to interference field issues, we will decide whether the tooth can be preserved in the long run.
